Lutheran Community Services Northwest is a nonprofit human-services agency dedicated to empowering and healing the children, individuals and families in crisis within our community since 1956. Working with accredited therapists and highly effective programs, we offer support to people whose lives are broken from trauma, helping them to pick up the pieces and feel whole again.

We are the area’s largest provider of children’s mental health services. In 2013, we provided service to over 1,700 children who experienced extreme trauma or sexual assault. In addition to our clinical services, our Child Welfare program places youth from extreme cases of trauma, abuse and neglect into structured foster care with 24-hour wrap around support for children, teens and the foster parents.

Hannah Jennings's Story
In 1965, Mom told people she "fell down the stairs."  It was the start of her terribly abusive childhood.  After her father died, the sexual abuse finally ended.  She vowed to not be abused again.  Then in 1979, at only 17 years old, she married a man that would end up abusing her mentally and physically.  The abuse didn't stop with her.  I would face the brunt of the "anger bouts," but my three sisters were all involved.  Finally, Mom found the strength to flee, and filed for divorce.  When she was 47, she met and married the best guy on earth.  For the first time in her life, she knew what it was like to love and be loved.  18 months later she found out she had inoperable lung cancer.  Mom died on April 15, 2013 at the age of only 51.  She never got to see me complete my first race.  I wore a dog tag with her picture engraved on it so she could cross the finish line with me.  I will be running for her.  I am living proof, that no matter what happens, there is grace and hope for everyone.
